In college, I had a theatre professor who was well-known for his blunt directing style. After a scene I was presenting to the class with my dear friend, there was silence as he stared intensely at me. As my stomach began turning and I felt my legs trembling he said, “Embrace your artistic birthright. Do it again.”
I guess I didn’t realize that I was apologizing for being me. Maybe I thought I wasn’t enough. Which we all do at some point, I suppose. But we are enough. You are enough. And in theatre, you have to trust yourself to fully embrace your character’s needs. You are worthy.
So, what am I waiting for? What are you waiting for? Embrace yourself, your dreams, and the love you give and receive.
Thanks George Cron for your words so many years ago. I take them forward as I go into Preview #2.
Make sure to buy your tickets for Midsummer and embrace what it means to be true to yourself.
Paige Rogers opens Friday Dec. 4th in her role as Titania/Hippolyta in PAC's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream!
Tickets are still available. Bring your family, give tickets as holiday gifts, whatever it takes, just do not miss this show!
